"Langata
Kenya Handmade Crafts" specialises in Kenyan
handicrafts created from the dynamic inspirations and
cultures of Kenya.
There's something for everyone with a true
African flavour for all your retail, decor and
promotional needs.
The
company was established as a wholesaler of Kenyan
handicrafts in 1993 when I moved to South Africa from
Kenya. Subsequently.
in 2009 I returned to live in Nairobi, Kenya and
continue to run the business from here.
In
Kenya I buy directly from the craftsmen where possible.
Through the growth and expansion I have witnessed
suppliers who once lived in mud huts, now achieving
their dreams of owning a stone house with electricity!
I
am capable of fulfilling large export orders (40’
containers) and have done so on many occasions to
department stores like TJ Max and Marshalls in the USA
and El Cortes Ingles in Spain and Portugal.
I have always had positive feedback on the
product quality and efficient service provided.
Over
the years, I have steadily increased and adapted our
product ranges in response to both customer demand and
environmental concerns.
I previously had a range of ebony carvings but as
this wood is not sustainable have discontinued this and
I am also cutting back on other products carved from
endangered indigenous hard wood species.
By actively marketing eco-friendly goods made
from banana fibre, sisal, cow bone and beads, I hope to
further reduce the demand for hard woods. We are also
gradually encouraging both our suppliers and our
customers to switch to “good wood” alternatives such
as Jacaranda and Neem.
I
trust you will find something of interest on this site !
